As organisations invest in capital projects, investment decision-making becomes crucial. You will apply investment appraisal techniques, deal with risk and uncertainty, and investigate financial systems where money can be accessed.

NOTE: Excel is required for Sessions 1 and 2, either per person or shared between couple (or you
could get by with calculator with memory function if need be).

Students who successfully complete the course should be able to:

    1. Demonstrate through written communication competence to use appropriate techniques and technologies to calculate present and future values, and apply time value of money to a project.
    2. Demonstrate through written communication and appropriate financial analysis competence to evaluate and gather appropriate data sources, and undertake appropriate financial analyses.
    3. Demonstrate through written and verbal communication how risk and uncertainty can be examined and/or measured in the context of financial management.
    4. Demonstrate through written and verbal communication how a business case is used to evaluate the financial analysis of an investment appraisal for a project.
